VIA Flylon Prototype Design
Under their VIA IDIQ contract, Douglas Architects, Inc., was hired by VIA Metropolitan Transit to design a prototypical bus shelter, as well as a signage system, called a “Flylon”, that would be used at their new VIA Primo bus stops, as well as the prototypical stops being installed in the downtown.
The design incorporated VIA approved signage and directional materials within the clean, modern aesthetic of the bus shelters. Surfaces had to be vandal resistant and easily changed to incorporate alterations to existing bus routes.
