Prominent Pointe Lobby Renovation
Nestled in the hill country above West Austin, Prominent Point is an office complex built in the 1990’s. Recently purchased by Divco West, the developers wanted to begin upgrading the amenities of some of the buildings on site.
Douglas Architects (DAI) was hired to provide architectural design and interiors services, as well as construction phase services for the redesign of the complex’s main lobby and entry. DAI’s design transformed the dark, north facing entry and improved its entry sequence. DAI coordinated with the landscape designer so that the planting beds and paving complimented the new, aluminum and glass-framed entry portal and vestibule.
Once inside, rich, warm, bamboo panels with LED lit slots, coordinated artwork niches and dark tile floors transformed the lobby into a sleek, welcoming space. DAI renovated the existing upstairs balcony and provided material selections for the corridors that coordinated with the lobby design. Opposite the entry, the wood and light panels become the materials for the elevator surrounds, extending to the second-floor balcony, which received a new glass and aluminum railing that helped to visually open up the space.
