Douglas Architects was asked to provide Third Party Review services for the ownership group of this 1,003 room, luxury hotel, located in downtown San Antonio. Douglas Architects (DAI) reviewed the interior spaces and finishes being installed, verifying conformance to the plans and specifications. A construction field mobility and management software system called Vela Systems was used to expedite the “punching” of rooms. The tablet pc and software sped up the punch and data transfer process and helped quantify the amount of work necessary to complete the project.

DAI worked closely with Grand Hyatt staff and the owner to document issues throughout the hotel’s many rooms and spaces. DAI produced numerous reports for the owner and produced an “Interim Punch List” containing all of the various consultants’ reviews, as well as Hyatt’s internal assessment of the work.
