Hilton River Walk Extension, River’s Edge Terrace & Entry Design
The Hilton Palacio del Rio is one of the most iconic properties San Antonio, and is located in the heart of downtown, along the historic River Walk.
In order to improve its river and ADA access and to capitalize on under-utilized space, DAI was asked by Hilton Palacio del Rio ownership to provide architectural design services for a new river entry motif, a new second floor extension and to incorporate the new seating area design into the existing stair that makes the connection from street level to hotel and to the river.
DAI created an outdoor terrace that works with the building’s existing structural rhythm, and utilizes metal and mesh in colors that complement the building. The terrace and patio was completed in 2015.
The new entry metal entry blade element will give guests a clearer entry point with a design that is modern, fresh and blends well with the “Hip Hacienda” feel of the new interiors. DAI received approval for the design from the city’s Historic and Design Review Commission.
