Port San Antonio
2011
To upgrade their presence at Port San Antonio, Boeing added two important components to its facilities. Douglas Architects was hired to provide full architectural services, including interiors, for a new secure entry facility and a new cafeteria building.
The new, 10,000 SF cafeteria was designed to accommodate current and future staff demand, while continuing the “identity” aesthetic first introduced at the front entry. The building also provided a more visible entry for the expansive hangar building. DAI designed the interiors of the cafeteria and meeting room and assisted Boeing with signage, artwork and FF&E.
DAI incorporated sustainable design principles, including building orientation, fenestration pattern along the north wall and a Kalwall translucent wall system to increase natural daylighting and insulation, as well as an energy saving HVAC system, passive solar shading, and drought tolerant landscaping.
